Job Opportunity: International Growth Centre seeks Managing Editor

The International Growth Centre (IGC) directs a global network of world-class researchers and policy experts in economics, political economy and related disciplines, and works closely with developing country governments to provide demand-led policy advice based on frontier research. Its mission is to promote sustainable growth in IGC partner countries in Africa and Asia. Based at LSE, and run in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is initiated and funded by DFID.

The Managing Editor, Web and Publications will play a crucial role in translating IGC academic research into easily understandable policy advice and compelling ideas for growth, working closely with IGC researchers, and will play a leading role in shaping IGC’s contribution to global debates on growth. The role holder will edit a series of publications aimed at communicating IGC’s work to key audiences, and act as managing editor for IGC’s web site.

This role requires someone with an strong economics background who is passionate about communicating academic research to a policy audience. The successful candidate will have excellent editorial and writing skills and the ability to draw out policy implications from research. Excellent organisational skills are also essential, as is the ability to work under pressure, both as part of a team and independently. Applicants should have substantial experience in an editorial or communications function and hold a post-graduate degree (MSc/MPA/MPP) in economics, public policy/administration, development economics, or a related discipline.

This post will be a full time position based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London, though regular international travel will be required.
