Under the PEC Programme, Grupo FARO has designed and implemented a virtual space on Facebook to facilitate internal communications. This activity was part of a strategy to improve the flow of external communications. An improvement of the institutional Intranet was suggested, however, through a needs analysis process between the communication team and their facilitator, Anaite Vargas, a more nuanced strategy was identified in response to the context of the organisation and a closed Facebook group was prioritised. This process has served to lighten internal communications. The use of this new social media channel has taken Grupo FARO members into a new area of communication which will provide a more appropriate and useful space due to Facebook’s friendly navigation. Grupo FARO will continue to use the Intranet for other communication purposes.
