Advocacy Officer, STOPAIDS

Deadline: Sunday, 12 September, 2021
Location: Home-based working in the UK (part-time access to a London office available, flexible working policy)
Working Pattern: Full time (28 hours per week)
Salary: £31,677.39 (includes London Weighting at £3,737)
Other: Candidates must have permission to work in the UK

The Advocacy Officer works with the Advocacy Team to develop and implement the organisation’s advocacy strategy.

An excellent team player, the Advocacy Officer is a source of expertise on their topic areas and on advocacy approaches for the wider staff team and the membership. They are also a first-class convener, capable of drawing out the voice and leadership of people living with and affected by HIV and other health conditions, member organisations, and other members of staff. They play a critical role in developing our campaigns, including linking with our youth campaigner network, as well as our lobbying and policy work.

As with all STOPAIDS staff, and in partnership with the Director and the Network and Development Manager, they will work to ensure the sustainability of the organisation by contributing 15% of their time to fundraising (proposals and report writing).

Key Accountabilities

  1. To support the development of the organisation’s advocacy strategy and lead on delivery of agreed advocacy objectives [70%]
  2. To support the work of the Youth Stop AIDS Campaign Coordinator in co-ordination with other STOPAIDS colleagues [10%]
  3. To partner colleagues in grant management and the development of funding proposals and reports relating to the organisation’s advocacy work [15%]
  4. Other duties as directed by the Senior Advocacy Adviser [5%]
