AFIDEP (African Institute of Development Policy)  is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the creation, translation, and utilization of research evidence for policy formulation and resource allocation in Africa. AFIDEP currently have three positions available.

1. Knowledge Translation Program Officer, Lilongwe, Malawi.

Reporting to the Executive Director based in Nairobi, the program officer will lead and coordinate AFIDEP’s operational activities in Malawi and support programs in other African countries as need arises. The position will be based in Lilongwe City.

Main Responsibilities:

• Coordinate AFIDEP’s research, capacity building and advocacy programs in Malawi.
• Contribute to proposal writing and the identification of new programs in Malawi.
• Prepare project reports.
• Lead in planning and organizing workshops, training and other events related to AFIDEP programs in Malawi.
• Represent AFIDEP in relevant meetings and development forums in Malawi.
• Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of government and other key stakeholders in Malawi, including senior government and institutional officials and donors.
• Manage AFIDEP’s Malawi office in liaison with the head office in Nairobi.

2. Research/Knowledge Translation Scientist  at AFIDEP, Nairobi, Kenya

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead the conceptualization, design and implementation of research, capacity building and policy engagement programs
• Conduct research evidence synthesis including systematic reviews
• Conduct research evidence translation into policy-oriented advocacy materials
• Promote application of research findings in decision-making processes at national, regional, and international levels
• Proposal writing and fundraising
• Publish policy-oriented research in journals

3. Research/Knowledge Translation Officer at AFIDEP, Nairobi, Kenya

Main Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the implementation of research projects including data collection and collation, manage data analysis and systematic reviews
• Promote application of research findings in decision-making processes at national, regional, and international levels
• Prepare research reports.
• Contribute to capacity building and knowledge generation/synthesis activities
• Contribute to proposal writing
• Develop and disseminate policy-oriented advocacy materials
