Communications Officer- LIDC

The London International Development Centre (LIDC) is currently seeking a communications officer to promote, organise and contribute to their events and communications activities. LIDC facilitates interdisciplinary research and training to tackle complex problems in international development by bringing together social and natural scientists from across the University of London’s five Bloomsbury Colleges (Birkbeck, Institute of Education, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Royal Veterinary College, and SOAS). It has 3,000 members from across these Colleges (students, staff and alumni).

The post will develop and run an innovative programme of communication which will engage staff and students across Colleges in LIDC activities and support their participation. It will also implement an external communication strategy which will inform and engage partner institutions in North and South, policy-makers and the public about our activities, and help to build relationships in research and training.

The ideal candidate will have experience in journalism/communications/PR or marketing fields and proven publishing, editing and writing skills. This post will require excellent communication and organisational skills and some knowledge of website design function. A background in international development would be an advantage.
This appointment is initially funded up to 22 May 2018, with the possibility to extend beyond that. This appointment will be made on LSHTM’s Professional Support Pathway Grade 5, with a starting salary of £32,647.
