How to construct an abstract

By 02/11/2022

Abstracts are an essential part of scientific writing. They succinctly summarise the main points of a paper, while also providing context for the reader. Abstracts are used to help readers decide whether they want to read your paper in full.

When writing an abstract, keep in mind that you’re trying to get someone excited about your work. It’s also important to remember that the abstract is not an introduction or summary of the paper; it must stand on its own. The goal of an abstract is to give readers enough information so they can decide whether or not they want to read on.

Nature has created a template for abstract writing. From content to structure, it’s a great starting point for any writer. There are also many other great resources located on the Nature website, you can find them here.
