More than a decade ago, a group of people passionate about generating and using evidence in Africa, for Africa, got together over a series of dinners during an international conference. And, like many initiatives nurtured over shared food and ideals, the group laid the groundwork for an idea that grew into the Africa Evidence Network (AEN). Now boasting more than 5,000 members across the continent, the network fosters collaboration and advocates for African-led evidence use across all sectors and levels, challenging traditional power dynamics. 

R2A has been a longtime ally, helping to promote, celebrate and amplify the important discussions that take place at their annual conferences. We have watched them grow from strength to strength, taking strong and important stands to shape and inform how evidence – and whose evidence – counts.
