Dr. Faruk-Ul-Islam has over 23 years experience in the development sector in undertaking a variety of activities such as: strategic programme management; policy influencing; multi-sector/country project operation; evaluation; research; quality assurance; and knowledge management. His technical expertise covers a wide range of areas including: livelihoods diversification, aquaculture, integrated natural resource management, food security, small-scale farming and disaster risk reduction.
Faruk holds a PhD in natural fish and rural livelihoods. He is engaged in research-based policy influencing, national and global level stakeholder mapping, designing policy communication strategies, knowledge brokering and repackaging evidence for various target audiences. Most recently, he has been facilitator for BIGD, a Think Tank in Bangladesh, as part of the IDRC-Think Tank Initiative (TTI) Programme.
