We are looking for a mission-aligned and highly motivated Associate to join our team. In this role, you will drive project management and provide critical support working closely with our Climate Lead and the broader team supporting the Climate & Gender Equity Fund (CGEF). All your work will be as part of a remote-working global team and in collaboration with our members, partners and other key stakeholders in the gender-lens investing field.

CGEF is one of the first major activities of USAID’s Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA), a US$250Mn initiative designed to mobilise US$2.5Bn in public   and private climate investments by 2030 to fund a range of climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions focused on scaling up the transition to an equitable and resilient net-zero economy. CGEF aims to increase access to finance for the investment vehicles, businesses, and community-based organisations developing and scaling women-led and women- benefiting climate solutions in global emerging markets where USAID operates. CGEF’s grant making is managed by 2X Global.

At 2X Global our Associates are a mid-level role, who play a critical coordination and operational role in major projects. Due to the nature of the CGEF project, for this role, we are looking for a candidate with a solid understanding of climate and gender finance. To be successful you will need to be a true team player, who can confidently build relationships with a range of global stakeholders, including high profile corporates, all supported by excellent project management and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drives the project management and day-to-day operations of the CGEF grant making facility, including funding rounds, selection process, portfolio management and MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) for grantees.

  • Works alongside the Climate Lead and the Leadership Team to achieve other strategic priorities for the success of the project – other responsibilities might include research, interviewing members, project scoping and development, event planning etc.

  • Builds solid relationships and collaborations with members, partners and a wide range of global stakeholders, including grantees and funders of CGEF.

  • Supports the overall communications and amplification strategy including  amplifying the foundation of tools, reports, frameworks

  • Collaborates effectively as part of a remote-working programmes team and in doing so contributes to the successful delivery of the wider 2X Global strategy.

Skills and Experiences

  • We anticipate this role to be suitable for a candidate with 5+ years of experience.

  • Experience in finance or investing, with a solid understanding and passion for gender lens investing. Due to the nature of this role, an understanding of climate adaptation or mitigation will be an advantage.

  • Experience in grants management, including managing compliance, financial management and an understanding of the logistics of large grants in emerging markets.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management controls.

  • Proven project management, time management, and organisation skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Good understanding of MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) and IMM (impact management and measurement) as it relates to managing grants.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Motivated by professional inquisitiveness, solving problems and creative use of digital technology to run projects, collaborate and share information.

  • Receptive to feedback, with a growth mindset.

  • Good alignment with the mission and values of 2X Global, and deep commitment to the organisation’s desire to be a role model in diversity, equity and inclusion.
