Together for Girls works in over 20 countries around the world and combines state-of-the-art data with powerful advocacy to end violence against children and adolescents, especially sexual violence. We are a nimble and highly impactful team that continues to grow and evolve. We work with various organizations, researchers, and advocates to drive change.
In 2022, Together for Girls launched and continues to host the Brave Movement, a survivor-centered global advocacy movement to end childhood sexual violence. The Brave Movement has a dedicated Executive Director and small staff team and shares operations and fund-raising support with Together for Girls.
Position Overview
Supervised by the Chief Operating Officer, the Operations Officer will be a full-time remote position (40 hours per week). The position will be responsible for supporting Together for Girls’ Operations team by handling accounts payable, payroll, contracting and other administrative and financial management functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
Financial duties:
- Oversee development of and monitoring of consultant contracts, including conducting due diligence checks on contractors
- Process and ensure timely payment of all consultant invoices and institutional payments
- Ensure adequate back up documentation is provided
- Review and process all accounts payable vouchers insuring that the vouchers have been properly authorized and appropriate supporting documentation is attached;
- Allocate costs and prepare account coding for invoices;
- Collaborate with external accounting firm on ensuring accurate 1099s for consultants
- Advise staff on financial policies and procedures.
- Reconcile and prepare employee expense invoices;
- Support reconciliation of corporate cards accounts monthly;
- General Ledger account analysis as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
People/human resources:
- Together with Human Resources, establish new employees on the payroll system and process changes in current employees pay and deductions per instructions from Human Resources;
- Review timesheets for accuracy;
- Import and submit payroll on a monthly basis.
- Process invoices from Employers of Record for international hires;
- Collaborate with external accounting firm to ensure labor is properly accounted for and
assigned; - Maintain consultant, employee, vendor and invoice files.
- Support effective hiring and onboarding of new team members
- Establish onboarding accounts for new staff (Google Suite,, etc.)
System and policy development/implementation:
- Liaise with outsourced IT provider
- Support internal policy development and effective policy implementation
- Assist with internal control implementation and monitoring
- Lead implementation of document retention policy
- Work with IT provider to maintain and improve technology systems to facilitate efficient operations
Other operations:
- Support Operations team in maintaining accurate Google calendar and an organized Shared Drive;
- Support registration processes with various entities
- Field questions from incoming emails and determine appropriate staff to assist them when necessary;
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time and project management with the ability to shift priorities, communicate effectively, and respond to unexpected, urgent needs
- Confidence and ability to take initiative, problem solve and troubleshoot
- Expert in, or ability to quickly learn, Google Applications, project management software, and other technology/software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in oral and written English
- Ability to work both independently with strong time and workflow management, as well as collaborative across teams
Background
Violence against children and adolescents is a prevalent and devastating global crisis. Sexual violence is a notable taboo and often hidden, form of violence. Location & Ways of Working
This position is a full time position that can be based in the US, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Kenya, or Ghana. Applicants must have work authorization for their preferred location.
This is currently a fully remote position with the expectation to travel to attend some in-person meetings periodically.
All team members are expected to be available during Together for Girls’ core working hours of 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The other four hours that the team member chooses to work are flexible and may be coordinated with their supervisor.
Compensation
This role offers a competitive salary adjusted to the cost of labor in the city where the candidate resides. Final salary within this location adjusted range will also be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and years and type of experience.
